Sturgis 75th Anniversary Tour Notes: The package above is a guided tour. Prices are based on Harley motorcycles from Denver to Denver. Other motorcycle makes and models available on a case by case basis. Rental cars or SUV’s may be substituted on a case by case basis based on pricing and availability. Motorcycle one way fees are included. Groups of 20-30 may receive further discounts.

Sturgis 75th Anniversary Self Drive Tour Lodging Notes: The prices above include lodging at the Country Inn & Suites by Carlton, Denver Colorado for 1 night before and after Sturgis and the Holiday Inn Express, or Hampton Inn, Casper, Wyoming or Scottsbluff, Nebraska before and after Sturgis. Three of the hotels are in Rapid City, South Dakota The Holiday Inn Express is in Hill City, South Dakota Intent is to fill the Days Inn Rapid City first with backfill at other hotels after that. Hotel rooms have been booked almost full throughout Rapid City by September, 2014. We have acquired 83 rooms total in anticipation of this inevitable demand.

Future Dates of the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally

How are the official dates of the Sturgis^® Motorcycle Rally™ determined?

The first Rally, called the Black Hills Motor Classic, was held August 12-14, 1938. The first weekend in August was selected because it did not interfere with other established events held in surrounding communities such as Belle Fourche (rodeo) and Deadwood (Days of 76). Regional events were extremely important for social and economic reasons in the post depression Mid-west and as a good neighbor; Sturgis did not want to compete for those bodies and dollars.

As the event grew the "official" dates grew. The Sturgis^® Motorcycle Rally™ is the first full week of August, Monday through Sunday, when preceded by a full weekend. This means that if 1 August falls on a Sunday the event would begin on the 9th with a full weekend preceding it. If 1 August would to fall on a Friday then the events official dates would be 4th through the 10th, the Monday through Sunday following the first full weekend in August.
